Famine in The Valley
Famine in The Valley is an
account of the Famine Years in the Clogheen Union. This Union
covered many parishes and villages including Ardfinnan, Ballybacon,
Ballylooby, Cahir, Clogheen Derrygrath, Molough, Mortlestown,
Goatenbridge, Kilbehenny, Neddans, Newcastle, Rochestown,
Skeheenarinky, Shanrahan, Templetenny (Ballyporeen), Tubrid,
Tullaghmelan, Tullaghhorton, Whitechurch. Clogheen Workhouse
was at its centre. In 1848, A children's workhouse was opened
at Tincurry.
